Risako is the member that I have a love-hate relationship with. I did not hate her but I found myself being annoyed by her on a regular basis. I tend to have less interest in the members that are pushed into the center and this is why I lacked any major interest in Risako. She has been in the spotlight from early on in the group’s career and got a lot of lines in songs, solos in concerts and camera time in videos.
However, she may not be my favorite member does not mean I do not have any respect for her. I am not going to deny the fact that she has talent. She is one of the best singers in Hello Project. This is also a reason why she gets the opportunities for solo performances and lines within songs. I have been captivated by her live performances on numerous occasions. I even cheered her on as she sang “Let It Go” on M! Countdown with some of my favorite KPOP artists. P.O, Nichkhun and even Minah were on the stage but my eyes were peeled on Risako. I felt like a proud fan that day. Although I constantly complain about Risako always being pushed in the limelight, in reality she truly deserves it.
Risako is the member that showed the most growth in Hello Project. Not only did she blossom in a mature and gorgeous woman, but her vocal ability has improved as well. She was a satisfactory singer in the first few years of her career but after “Very Beauty” her whole voice and demeanor changed. Am I the only one who has noticed this? Her voice matured and her singing style changed. She was using a lot more vocal techniques to improve her singing style. I will always be amazed at this transition.
Risako will be going on break after the hiatus of Berryz Kobo. She is currently planning for her future. I really hoped that she would have stayed in the entertainment industry. She has the talent and potential to be a successful artist in the industry, but I wish her all the best in her future endeavors!
Bye Bye Mata Ne, Sugaya Risako and thank you for all you have done for Hello Project.
