As usual, my life has taken over and I am late with this news but I just had to comment on it. If you did not already know, Playing Manager of Country Girls, Tsugunaga Momoko, has announced her graduation from the group and company. She will retire from the entertainment industry entirely and will pursue her dream of becoming a teacher.
Momoko has attended university majoring in Education while being an idol, so this news comes as no surprise to me.
Also, when Country Girls was formed many years ago and Momoko stated that she would be in the group for 2 to 3 years. Her main role was to guide these rookies and make the group as successful as they can be. Country Girls debuted in 2014. It has been two years. It will almost be three years when Momoko graduates next year. She is doing exactly as promised. Although she is my favourite member of the group, I knew that this day was coming. This is why I am not entirely upset at this graduation announcement.
I will miss her and her “kawaii” image. Her grand presence will be missed when she graduates. However, I am glad that she is pursuing something she really cares about. I have seen her interact with children on variety shows. I believe not only will she make a good teacher, but a good mother as well.
She will be out of the public eye so we would not be hearing much from her. This makes me a bit sad but I do wish her all the best. It would be nice if once in a while she let her fans know she has been doing well.
With her departure, I am almost certain that a new member or two will be added to the group. I have a sneaking suspicion that these members may be chosen from Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido. It seems appropriate. My personal favourites are Ota Haruka and Kitagawa Ryo. I hope they get chosen to join the group (granted they are not chosen for Morning Musume’s 13th Generation). They still have a bit of training to do, but they have time to brush up on their skills before Momoko’s graduation.
Tsugunaga Momoko will graduate on June 30, 2017. That time seems so far away, but we all know how fast it can fly. Until then, I hope she puts her all into Country Girls and Hello Project. I will support her even after her graduation. All the best Momochi!
