Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016)
Starring: Kang Ha-Neul and IU
Episodes seen: 3
Notes: This show is going pretty good! This is a huge shock to me because I really do not like historical dramas. There is a good balance of romance and action. Not to mention, there is also a good balance of good-looking people. I will admit the handsome princes and my favourite soloist, IU, are my main motivators for this show. On the other hand, Baekhyun’s acting is making me cringe so hard. I do not hate on EXO or anything, but I am pretty tempted to skip every scene with Baekhyun in it. I cannot stand his acting and I cannot stand his narcissistic and patriarchal character. I am still pretty early in the series so we will see where it leads me.
Cinderella and the Four Knights (2016)
Starring: Jung Il Woo, Ahn Jae Hyun and Park So Dam
Episodes seen: 1
Notes: I do not know how to feel about this drama as yet. I have not done much cringing, but it has not really captured my interest. It seems to be really popular among the fans so I will not give up on it yet!
Switch Girl!! 2 (2012)
Starring: Kiriyama Renn and Nishiuchi Mariya
Episodes seen: 5
Notes: I have a confession. I started this series last night and I am already more than halfway through. This drama is so cringe-worthy (much like the manga) so I do not know why I love it so much! It takes on the true form of a zany Japanese drama. I just wish it were a bit longer than eight episodes. This drama is different from the others that I am currently watching. It provides comedic relief through crazy situations and less than subtle sexual references. Not to mention there are a lot of good-looking Japanese actors and actresses in the show.
Starring: Lee Jong Suk & Han Hyo Joo
Episodes seen: 2
Notes: This is another drama I do not know how to feel about yet. It was REALLY popular. I saw screenshots of it everywhere, which forced me to start watching this drama. A lot has happened in two episodes and I am a bit confused. The most I understand is that Kang Chul is in an alternative universe, one created by Oh Yeon Joo’s father. How did Oh Yeon Joo get into that world? What was that monster-looking drawing found on her father’s writing desk? I have so many questions. I hope they get answered as the series progresses.
