At the beginning of last year, I made a wish list. This wish list consisted of things I hoped to happen in the Hello Project throughout that year. Some of the wishes that have actually been fulfilled include:
Kaga Kaede’s official debut
Kaede has finally debuted in Hello Project after four years of training. I expected her to be included in a new unit. However, she was added as a 13th Generation member of Morning Musume, which is better in my opinion. I was so afraid that she was going to leave without getting the opportunity to debut.
Tsubaki Factory’s official debut
Last year, it was announced that Tsubaki Factory would be officially debuting in 2017. They have improved since their first live performance and have even added three new talented members. I believe that they are finally ready for debut. They will release their debut single, “Hatsukoi Sunrise / Just Try! / Uruwashi no Camellia” on February 22, 2017.
In 2015, Juice=Juice only released one single and album. They released a lot more music and even starred in a drama in 2016. In my opinion, the music they released was not some of their best but it was still a lot more than 2015.
Below, I have listed a few of the events or changes I would like to see in Hello Project for 2017.
1) Hello Project concert in Toronto, Canada.
I placed this at the top of my wish list. I have to see any (or all) group in concert. It will fulfil my role as a Hello Project fan. I would be able to feel the same energy as the wota I see in concert footage. I will see my favourites perform on stage with my own eyes, not just through a computer screen. Hopefully, this concert will include a handshake event so I will get to meet the girls and see them up close. It would be a dream come true.
2) A new unit or group
With the upcoming disbandment of C-ute, I hope a new group will be created to carry on Hello Project’s flame. I am hoping for a situation similar to Kobushi and Tsubaki Factory, which were created right before Berryz Koubou’s indefinite hiatus. This group will comprise of Hello Pro Kenshuusei. I already have an idea of the Kenshuusei I would like to see in this unit. They include Danbara Ruru, Kiyono Momohime, Inoue Hikaru, Maeda Kokoro, Horie Kizuki, Takase Kurumi and Ichioka Reina. I believe these girls have proven that they are ready for debut. Part of me is hoping for an announcement during the current Winter Tour.
3) The return of Sayashi Riho
I was never a big fan of Riho but I am starting to miss her a bit. I am curious to see her as a soloist. I am also curious to see her improvement in English since going abroad to study English.
4) Morning Musume Album
It has been almost three years since Morning Musume’s last album. I am deeply craving another album, especially with the change in lineup since the last album. I also wish for “Watashi no Nanni mo Wakacchanai” to be included on the album. I have seen so many live performances of the song. I just want a clean studio version to rock out to.
5) New Country Girls Members
Inaba Manaka left Country Girls last year and Tsugunaga Momoko’s graduation is set for June 2017. The member count will be reduced to five. I am not saying that this is a bad thing but it would not hurt to add new members. It would change up the group a bit. I am almost certain that new members will be added right before or after Momoko’s graduation. I am hoping that Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido’s Kitagawa Ryo and Sato Hikari is part of the “3rd Generation” selection.
6) Yamaki Risa As the New Leader of Country Girls
On that note, when Momoko graduates there will be no supervisory or leadership role in Country Girls. The group will need a new “playing manager” or leader. I believe that Risa can fulfil this role since she is the oldest in the group. There is a significant age gap between Risa (1997) and the next oldest member, Chisaki (2000). I also believe that Risa will make a good leader.
Those are my wishes for this year. As the year progresses we will see if any of these wishes come true. What are your wishes for Hello Project for 2017?
