2017 Hello Pro Kenshuusei Test Results and Announcements!

This is late news but Hello Pro Kenshuusei held their annual testing event, “Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2017 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~”, earlier this month. Each Kenshuusei from the main and Hokkaido units performed a song of their choice and were evaluated by the audience and judges. Clips of these performances can be found in the upcoming episode below.

My favourite performances included:

Shimakura Rika – “Be Alive” (Morning Musume)

Kawamura Ayano – “Mugen Climax” (C-ute)

Kitagawa Ryo – “Dance de Bakoon” (C-ute) [I am so obsessed with her]

Matsunaga Riai – “Songs” (Morning Musume)

Yamazaki Yuhane – “Magic of Love” (Juice=Juice Ver.)

Inoue Hikaru – “My Alright Sky” (Suzuki Airi) [She looked gorgeous in that dress!]

Maeda Kokoro – “Suki Sugite Baka Mitai” (Def.Diva)

Kiyono Momohime – “Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~” (Morning Musume)

Takase Kurumi – “Baby! Koi ni Knock Out!” (Petitmoni)

Horie Kizuki – “Wasurete Ageru” (ANGERME)

Ono Kotomi – “Akai Nikkichou” (Akagumi 4)

Noguchi Kurumi – “Take Off is Now” (Morning Musume) [She looked so sexy!]

Ichioka Reina – “Hitorijime Shitakatta Dake na no ni” (C-ute)

Danbara Ruru – “Give Me Love” (Morning Musume)

I know that is a lot of favourites but many of these girls are very talented!

Danbara Ruru won the Public Vote Award.

Inoue Hikaru and Yamazaki Yuhane won the Judge’s Singing Award.

Horie Kizuki and Maeda Kokoro won the Judge’s Dancing Award.

Hashisako Rin won the Judge’s Character Award.

Congrats to all the winners!

At the event, there were also some BIG announcements.

Inoue Hikaru is now the leader of Hello Pro Kenshuusei! This includes the Hokkaido unit. I am so happy that she got this role. There has not been a leader since Kaneko Rie’s departure in 2013. This new role may mean that she will not debut for a while, which saddens me because I believe she has the talent and skills to debut in Hello Project. I can only hope she debuts next year.

It was also announced that Takase Kurumi and Kiyono Momohime would be transferred to a new Kenshuusei unit under Engeki Joshibu that is focused on theatre. This came as a huge shock to the girls and the fans. I am going to assume that they would not be taking part in the usual Kenshuusei recitals as they have been excluded from June’s Recital cast list. It makes me a bit sad since they would not be debuting in a Hello Project group and I would be seeing much less of them (I do not usual pay attention to musicals and theatre work) but I know that this is a field that they will both excel in. I wish them all the best!

Finally, the biggest news of the night was the debut announcements! It was announced the Ichioka Reina, Danbara Ruru and Kawamura Ayano were set for debut! The reaction of the girls made me burst into tears, especially when Reina fell to the floor. The girls have worked so hard to get to this point. I feel like a proud mother watching her children achieve success.

It has not been verified whether they will debut within an existing group or a new unit. With upcoming departures from Morning Musume, Country Girls and Kobushi Factory it is possible that they may be added to existing groups.

However, I really hope that a new unit is made and will include Horie Kizuki, Inoue Hikaru and Maeda Kokoro. I know that earlier in this post I stated that Hikaru may not debut for a while but a girl can only wish. I am also a bit salty that Kizuki was not chosen to debut. I have a great fear that she may leave the program soon.

Congrats to all the winners and members set to debut! I hope we get an update on their debut really soon!
