This post is not related to Korean or Japanese culture or entertainment but I wanted to highlight two recent events.
As many of you may know, there have been disasters going on throughout the world. On September 7th, the Southern region of Mexico was hit by an earthquake measured 8.1 magnitude on the Richter scale. Mexico suffered extensive damage. Many buildings have been completely destroyed and hundreds of lives were lost. There are people without shelter, food and resources for survival.
Unfortunately, a few days later, another earthquake hit Mexico, this time in the Central region. The earthquake measured 7.1 on the Richter scale. There were more destruction and lives lost.
For those of you who are interested and able to help Mexico during their time of need, there are many ways you can do so. I have linked an article from the NY Times and a list from Charity Navigator of reputable agencies that are providing aid. You can support by donating to these agencies.
Please remember to be diligent of the agencies you are donating to. Always make sure that they are reputable organizations. As they mention in the NY Times article, remember to always ask questions if you are unsure and be accountable for your money. Do your research and know where your money goes!

Many islands in the Caribbean have been devastated by Hurricanes Irma, Jose and Maria. Some of these islands include Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and others. Some islands have been left mostly inhabitable with no access to services, food, clean water or shelter. There have been many fatalities.
This one hits closer to home for me. As some of you may know, I was born and raised in the Caribbean. No matter where I go in the world, the Caribbean will always be my home. This really hurts me. I have friends and family who were affected by these hurricanes. I even have friends who are still trying to find their loved ones. It is truly heartbreaking.
You can lend your hand and provide support by donating to the following agencies:
As I mentioned before, please do your research before donating to ANY agency.
My heart and prayers go out to those affected by these natural disasters in Mexico and the Caribbean and any other traumatic events around the world.
